About the Target

TNNT2 is a target of interest in many antibody-based workflows. Troponin, in conjunction with tropomyosin, acts as a molecular switch that regulates muscle contraction in response to changes in intracellular Ca2+ levels. It is composed of three subunits: the Ca2+-binding troponin C (TnC), the tropomyosin-binding troponin T (TnT), and the inhibitory troponin I (TnI). Upon β-adrenergic stimulation in the heart, troponin I (TnI) is phosphorylated at Ser23 and Ser24 by PKA and PKC. Depending on the literature source, TNNT2 may also be discussed as Cardiac Troponin T and Troponin T-C.
